Wrestle Not

“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood…” (Ephesians 6:12)

Wrestle -to contend by grappling with and striving to trip or throw an opponent down or off balance

Even though our challenges are visible we should not be start a battle with visible our true battle is with the invisible. Flesh and blood battles are designed to throw us off balance people may try to grapple or stir up strife with us but we must be aware that they exist to keep us away from the true battle.

In (1Samuel 17:27-30) Eliab tried to distract David by belittling him “go to your few sheep”; however David turned away from Eliab and kept his eyes on the true battle. David would have wrestled with Eliab because it will only rob him of his momentum and sap his energy. Wrestling with Eliab would be unprofitable, but wrestling the giant brought David his reward. Flesh and blood is designed to distract us from the rewards and promises of God.

Beloved, wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, and against spiritual wickedness in high places. Our weapons are mighty through God for the pulling down of stronghold, for the slaying of giants and for our deliverance.
